What happens when a former monitoring-software CEO/CTO measures enhanced weathering experiments

The founder and CEO of Carbon Drawdown Initiative, Dirk Paessler, in his former life was a software entrepreneur. One of his ventures was PAESSLER, a software company he founded 27 years ago (see the company history) and which he lead as the CEO/CTO until 2017. The company today provides monitoring software to 500.000 customers around the world. If you are looking for an IT job, they are a great place to work, btw!

When we started to design our enhanced weathering experiments in fields, in large outdoor-lysimeters and in our greenhouse to measure the effects of weathering rocks in soils it was his natural choice to put as many monitoring sensors into these experiments as we could get. To keep this small IT circus reliably running he naturally chose PAESSLER’s flagship monitoring product, PRTG.

This week PAESSLER has published a nice article about the IT technology and tedious work behind our EW experiments in their company blog.

Patrick starts his article with: “It's hard to describe what it feels like to stand in a greenhouse with almost 400 pots, growing neither veggies nor flowers, but the most closely monitored and pampered blades of grass I've ever seen.
